Title of the Practice: “Students Centric and Friendly Administration”
Objectives of the Practice: To ensure efficient administration by providing information on time and active participation by the students in all activities of the College. The underlying principle is that the problems faced by the students should be addressed to achieve the vision and mission of the College.
The Context: The context is the location of the college and constraints faced by the students including absence of hostels and transportation facility up to the college. Another challenge is the poor economic background of the students.
The Practice: The information about the policies and activities of the college are provided to the students, parents and other stakeholders on time through the college website and Notice Boards. Admission Notice is also published in the local newspapers of Tamenglong. There are over fifteen College Whatsapp groups including Tamenglong College group, Semester wise groups and Department wise Whatsapp groups of every Semester. The Whatsapp groups are active throughout the year and are the most important means of communication among the administration, students and teachers.
The college provides scholarship to the students. The College Administration has computers with internet connection and non-stop power supply with solar panel which provides facilities for online services. The Administration ensures timely and effective services in offline and online mode in the college campus. The best practice can be applied in any institution. The limitations include problems faced by those who do not have mobiles with internet connection and non-availability of electricity during rainy days in Tamenglong.
Evidence of Success: Through the best practice, information is instantly available to the students. The students respond and participate actively in all the activities of the college. The success is significant during Covid-19 pandemic. The scholarships helps the students from the poor economic backgrounds. The results of the best practice indicate the need for expansion of student centric and friendly administration.
Problems Encountered and Resources Required: The problems include lack of facilities like computer and internet and less scholarship amount. More resources for computers with internet facilities and non-stop power supply in the campus may be provided. The scholarship amounts may be increased.
