The Department of Sociology, Tamenglong College, organised an inter-departmental Debate Competition on 6 October 2023 on the topic “Does Gender Equality Exist in Zeliangrong Society?” at 12:00 noon in the Multipurpose Hall of the College. Shri Daidatlung Kameih, Asst. Professor and HoD, Dept. of Sociology, and Shri NG Tuakeulung, Asst. Professor and HoD, Dept. of English, moderated the program.

The program was started with an inaugural speech by Dr Kinthuijinang Maremmei, Vice Principal, Tamenglong College.

The Jury of the debate competition comprised of:

• Mr. Daidatlung Kameih, Assistant Professor and HoD, Department of Sociology, as Speaker
• Ms. Rose Gonmei, Assistant Professor, Department of Education
• Ms. Gladice Chinir, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology
• Mr. David Jiangamlung Kamei, Assistant Professor, Department of English
• Mr. Nabakanta Singh, Associate Professor, Department of Sociology
• Mr. Makhou Gangmei, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics

There were 12 students taking part in the competition and each participant from both the Affirmative Side and Negative Side was given a level playing field in voicing its line of thought from the given inquisitive topic.
Ms. Kaduangailiu Newmei of BA 5^th Semester from Department of Economics secured 1^st position, Mr. Enthuilungbe Disuang of BA 1^st Semester from Sociology Department secured 2^nd position and Machunlu Inka of BA 5^th Semester from English Department secured 3^rd position in the event.

The prizes consist of envelopes containing Rs.1000, Rs 700 and Rs 500 for 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd position respectively. Certificates were also given to the winning participants.

The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Ms. Jangdeilhing Misao, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology.
