On 28 May 2024, as the severe Cyclone Remal hit hard the state, Sir David J. Kamei spotted a little boy standing under heavy rain and storm from the Transit Accommodation around 2pm. Out of pity, he took him to his quarters to understand his situation. In the process, Ma’am Lovika Kamei, Sir Namsurei Thomas Kamei and Sir NG Tuakeulung helped him change his clothes, warmed him with a charcoal-fire (Meiphu), and offered him hot tea and biscuits.

As per the information provided by him, the lovely little boy was identified as Mr. Paul Gangmei, a Class-IV student, staying in a rented accommodation with an elder sister and a younger brother, and was on his way to home from school after giving his exam. Since his place of residence is a bit far which will take him at least 15-20 minutes on foot, that too under heavy rainfall and strong winds, the little boy was asked to stay while he was also warming himself till the severe storm subsides.

As the rain subsides in the late afternoon, this lovely little boy was dropped and reunited with his inmates at around 5:25pm by Sir David J. Kamei and Sir Helun Touthang, and was reunited with his siblings and neighbours. Thnaks to the timely intervention of the teachers in the Transit Accomodation, Mr. Paul Gangmei was saved from possible adverse situation.
