The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Tamenglong College was formally constituted on 27th September, 2019 during a joint Staff Meeting held on the aforesaid date. It was established with the following objectives.

  1. Development of quality culture in the institution.
  2. Documentation of the various program and activities leading quality enhancement.
  3. Preparation of the IIQA and SSR to be submitted to NAAC for the 1st cycle of assessment and accreditation of the college and submission of the AQAR subsequently.
  4. Development of mechanisms and procedures for quality enhancement in academic and administrative performance.
  5. To be the quality ensuring body of the college.

As per resolution no.2 of the aforesaid meeting dated 27th September, 2019 the following persons were appointed as the Chairman, Coordinator, the Joint Coordinator and Members of the IQAC respectively.

Initially, when the IQAC was established in 2019, the thrust area of the IQAC was documentation, record keeping and preparation of the Self Study Report (SSR) to be submitted to the National Assessment and Accredited Council (NAAC) for the assessment and accreditation of the college. Consequently, its focus in the beginning was getting the required information and data ready for the SSR. Since the submission of the SSR, the IQAC has been instrumental in bringing about visible changes in various aspects such as in the teaching-learning, updating of the library, students’ attendance, pass percentage of students and in organisation of co-curricular activities, capacity building measures both for teachers and students.

The IQAC keeps record of the events and activities conducted in the college and plays key role in initiating quality in the overall functioning of the college including- classroom teaching-learning, improvement in infrastructure and academic facilities, improvement in the financial management and optimal utilization of resources in a transparent manner. It strives to achieve the vision and mission of the college by bringing quality education, transparency in administration and academic performance of the college. The IQAC of the college tries to institutionalize quality assurance strategies through attendance tracking system wherein the students are reminded of the importance of attendance and thereby quality higher education.

Out of the many activities performed by IQAC, three are significant. They are (i) bringing the necessity of quality consciousness and culture in all aspects of the college functioning, (ii) devising methods of keeping records and innovation in maintaining data of various activities including academic, administrative and financial aspects and (iii) devising feedback system from the stakeholders including from the students and taking steps to improve the functioning of the college on academic and other aspects based on the analysis of the feedbacks received.

Due to the initiative and efforts of the IQAC, there has been visible improvement in the overall functioning of the college. Qualitative change has taken place in teaching-learning and evaluation processes. There has been increase in enrolment of students and higher pass percentage in the university examinations. The pass percentage has increased upto 92.93% during the last five years. To take the institution to greater heights in quality, the IQAC focusses on systematisation and quality enhancement through:

  • Capacity Building Measures for teachers and students
